INDIANAPOLIS -- A judge in Indianapolis has entered a not-guilty plea for former NBA No. 1 draft pick Greg Oden, who is charged with punching his ex-girlfriend in the face. The Marion County judge set an Oct. 22 trial date for the free-agent centre Wednesday. Oden is charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and two misdemeanour battery counts. The judge says Oden can leave Indiana, but must remain on GPS monitoring. The 26-year-old was arrested at his mothers Indianapolis home last Thursday and released from jail later that day. An affidavit says a witness told police Oden punched his ex-girlfriend in the face, drawing blood. The Portland Trail Blazers made Oden the top pick in the 2007 draft.
